The restaurant of Monticelli is called “The Refuge of San Costanzo”, after the name of the first bishop of Perugia who has been hiding here in 174 AD during a persecution of the Christians carried out when Marcus Aurelius was emperor (160-180 AD). There are traces of Saint Costanzo in the chapel which are explained in this site under “History of Castello Monticelli”.
The restaurant is open for dinner from Thursday to Monday. It is closed for lunch. However, upon request we open it also for lunch. For information and reservations call +0039-075-8787-246 or +0039-338-3931-013 or send an e-mail to email@example.com. Meals are served in the gothic hall or in the open, depending on the season and the weather. Dinnes start at 8 pm. We offer typical meals of the Italian regions, especially Umbria, Tuscany and Latium. We often serve home-made pasta and organic vegetables produced in the farm of the castle. The magic atmopshere of the place makes it particularly suited for anniversaries, baptisms, weddings and business meetings.
The farm of Castello Monticelli specializes in organic vegetables, fruits and berries. 120 olive trees were planted in april 2017. However, the production of oil will start in about 5 years. The meat served in the restaurant comes from animals which graze on the surrounding hills like hundreds of years ago.
The restaurant gives a very special attention to the matching of wines with the dishes served. The wines offered are also from the immediate surroundings: Cantina di Montevibiano, Cantina La Spina and Cantina Goretti.
Prices vary in general from 20 to 35 Euros excluding wine and water. The meals include generally three courses, sometimes four.
